How to make your smile stand out in Miami

Unless you are extremely fortunate, you are probably not going to be one of the chosen few in Miami who is born with a perfect smile and a mouth full of straight teeth. Most of us need help to achieve the perfect smile.

Fortunately, advancements in orthodontic dentistry make that goal more achievable than ever, with less time, pain and money than ever before. Making the decision to invest in orthodontics is an investment in a great smile and a healthier mouth for the rest of your life. You’ll be more confident in any social situation and you’ll feel better in knowing that you’ve made an investment that will pay for itself many times over throughout your life.

There are many kinds of orthodontic options you can decide on. Each one will offer benefits to you based on your particular situation.

Metal braces are the most common and feature metal brackets and wires that are affixed to your teeth. They are the least expensive of all options and while they are the most noticeable of the options, the flip side is that with a rainbow full of color options for wires and brackets, children and teenagers can make a fashion statement while their teeth are moving into place.

Ceramic and plastic braces mimic the size and shape of metal braces, but they are made of tooth colored or clear materials that blend into the color of your teeth. Tooth colored wires can further minimize any visual impact to make them even less noticeable. Although they are more expensive than metal braces, they may be a great choice for working professionals who want to minimize a distracting look in the workplace.

Lingual braces are just like metal braces, except that they are attached to the inside of a person’s teeth. While they are invisible from the outside, they tend to be more expensive and harder to clean. They also take longer to move teeth into place and their use is limited to less severe types of cases.

Invisalign braces consist of a series of clear plastic aligners that are inserted into a person’s mouth, much like a mouth guard. They are removable and are pretty much invisible when they are being worn. They’re only available for adults and teens and are considered the most expensive orthodontic option.
